Article 5B · 7% flat tax for pensioners
Missed March? You can still file by 31 October 2026.
The Greek tax office has given foreign pensioners a second chance at the 7% flat tax this year. We check if you qualify, prepare your documents and file it for you. All in English.
Start by 20 October. Foreign documents need an apostille and a Greek translation, which takes time.
For 2026
You moved to Greece by 2 July 2026
You can still get the 7% rate for this year, 2026. Your filing must be in by 31 October 2026. Supporting documents follow by 30 November.
Get ready
You moved after 2 July, or you're moving soon
The 7% rate starts from 2027. Start now and you're set up before the rush, with your tax number and bank account in place.
Is it for you?
Usually yes, if all three are true
- You were not a Greek tax resident for at least 5 of the last 6 years
- You move from a country that exchanges tax information with Greece. That includes the EU, the UK, the US, Canada and Australia
- You receive a pension from abroad
Once approved, you pay a flat 7% on your income from abroad, instead of Greek rates that go up to 44%. It can last up to 15 years. Not sure about one of the three? Ask us. We check before we file anything.

Questions
Before you decide
What exactly is the 7% regime?
It's Greece's special tax regime for foreign pensioners (Article 5B of the Greek tax code). Once approved, you pay a flat 7% on your income from abroad, including your pension, instead of the normal Greek rates, which go up to 44%. It can last up to 15 years.
Do I qualify?
Usually yes if three things are true: you were not a Greek tax resident for at least 5 of the last 6 years, you move your tax residence to Greece from a country that exchanges tax information with Greece (this includes the EU, the UK, the US, Canada and Australia), and you receive a pension from abroad. We check your case before we file anything.
I moved in 2026. Which year can I file for?
If you moved your tax residence to Greece by 2 July 2026, you can file now for tax year 2026, as long as the filing is in by 31 October. If you moved after 2 July, the regime starts from 2027. You can still get set up now.
What if I miss 31 October?
If you moved by 2 July 2026, the 7% rate can't start for 2026 and that year is taxed at normal Greek rates. You can still file by 31 October 2027 for the regime to start from 2027. That's why we ask you to start by 20 October: foreign documents need an apostille and an official translation, and that takes time.
What documents will I need?
A certificate of tax residence from your previous country (or, if it doesn't issue one, your last tax assessment or tax return there), and an official document from your pension provider showing that you receive a pension. You also sign a short declaration in Greek, which we prepare for you. Foreign public documents must carry an apostille and be officially translated into Greek. The apostille and translation are paid by you, and we can point you to a translator.
Do you need my TAXISnet password?
No. We never ask for it. You give our licensed accountant a limited authorisation in myAADE for this filing only.
Can I get a refund?
If we find you don't qualify before we file, you get your money back minus a €49 fee for the check. Once we've filed for you, the fee isn't refundable, because the decision is the tax office's, not ours. Read the terms.
Is moving my tax residency to Greece included?
Yes. Every package includes registering you as a Greek tax resident, which you need for the 7% regime anyway. If you have already done it, the price stays the same.
What is the €149 add-on?
Your first Greek tax return under the 7% regime, filed in spring 2027, at today's price. If your 5B filing isn't approved, the €149 covers your regular Greek tax return instead. It covers a standard case (pension plus normal Greek items). Extra income such as rent or a business is quoted separately.
